I agree with president Obama, but it may not be the key factor in creating jobs. With unemployment still close to 10 percent, trading oversea may increase our GDP, but we need to focus on crreating jobs here in the U.S. Perhaps by using more aggressive goverment fiscal policy.

Has any other president in the United States tried to promote more exporting to fix the economy? If they did, did it have positive outcomes? Will the employment of more people by exporting be a greter increase than the decrease of people that would lose their jobs over seas?

China can manipulate the value of its currency by making it weak, which helps China because it exports more goods due to the weak currency. It can do this by printing more Chinese RMB, thereby weakening the currency. USA, on the other hand, wants China to strengthen its currency, so the US currency is cheaper in comparison to now, so more Chinese will buy US goods. This would strengthen US exports.
More free trade agreements with countries like Panama and South Korea could create jobs in the long run because USA can outsource many jobs to these countries and create more jobs that required university degrees. This way, Panama and South Korea are better off because more people are employed, and USA is better off because it can be more productive with these new jobs.
